NOTE: Registration for travel opens and closes months before the start of the upcoming season. Registration for the next season opens during the current season (opens in May for Fall, October for Spring) and it ends months before the start of the upcoming season (closes in June for Fall, December for Spring). There is a lot of coordination for team placement, submission to MAYS, and scheduling of games with other towns that require early registration.
Travel Soccer costs $95 per season:
This cost is to try to break even with the leagues expenses which include: paying for field time mostly from the towns (sometimes also gym time - mostly early spring), field equipment (paint, lining equipment, goals/netting, etc.), coaches equipment (ice packs, game balls, pinnies, cones, etc.), officials to referee the games (not volunteers), insurance for our kids and fields, insurance for our volunteers, background checks for our volunteers, travel league fees (for the inter-town scheduling of games and monitoring), maintaining websites, etc.
U10 through U14 (grades 5-8)
Ages U10 through U14 are travel-based, competing against teams in other surrounding towns. U10-U14 play games on Saturdays both in the fall and the spring.
Practices are generally during the week and the coach may elect to practice once or twice a week depending on his/her schedule and field availability. One of these weekly practices, for some age groups, may be a clinic-type practice where all of the boys or girls in that age group get together at the same location and perform the same drills.
Travel soccer is generally local (within 25 minutes), but occasionally a team may have a ride up to 45 minutes depending on the number of teams in the age group and division of play. The league does try to schedule games locally if possible, but cannot guarantee it.
In the spring, depending on division of play, there may be a single weekend tournament, or the chance to qualify for MTOC (the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions) playoffs.
U16 through U18 (Grades 9-12)
In the fall, there is a single HS age group, which encompasses those players from U15 through U18. This age group has a wide age range due to the fact that many players are playing HS soccer in the fall season and do not play town soccer. In the spring, there may be separate age groups for U16 and U18 depending on enrollment. They play on Sundays. Teams within the HS (fall) and U16 and U18 groups (spring) may take time to form as sometimes there is not enough interest to field teams at the older age groups.
