Association (MUYSA) Meeting Minutes

Present: Don Morin, Ken Perregaux, Mark Fitzgerald, Gene Peterman, Mike Poe, Paul Moruzzi, Artie DiGregorio, Mark Murray, Sue Hamilton, Valerie Sumner, Chris Wojtowicz, Peter Bloznalis, Rich Mayzel, Brian Mazar, Chris Schimp, Mike Brodeur, Rob Walters, Gordon Scott.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:28 PM.

Don Morin made a motion to approve the January & February Minutes. Ken Perregaux seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Don Morin, MAYS Coordinator, reported that he would be contacting all coaches to get approved rosters, pass cards and schedules to them when received back from MAYS.
Don mentioned that a group of U18 Boys had been added to the spring program.

Ken Perregaux, MUYSA President, announced that the March Practice Schedule for the Miscoe Hill Gym was full. Coaches are asked to contact Ken with any cancellations so that others may be scheduled to use the facility.

Rob Walters, MUYSA Database Manager, reported that 450 +/- players had registered for the spring 2004 season. Rob is working on updating the database for submission to MYSA. Mark Fitzgerald reported that he had dropped off 600 U6,U7 & U8 registration forms at Miscoe Hill, Clough & Memorial (Grafton) schools to be handed out to the students.

Don Morin, as MUYSA Treasurer, reported that the club is in fine fiscal health. There was a general discussion regarding posting a breakdown on the MUYSA website regarding allocation of registration fees to certain categories. Don will give this some thought and try to come up with some type of graph format for website posting.

Mike Brodeur, MUYSA Educational Director, reported that MUYSA is sponsoring a coaches “G License Course” (4 hour course). The course will be held on March 27th, from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the Miscoe Hill Lower Gym. This is an introductory course with no prior coaching experience necessary. It was also noted that a coaches “F License Course” (8 hour course) is being offered in Grafton, on March 13th, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, at the High School.

Mark Fitzgerald reported that the Vacation Days Soccer Clinic held on February 19th at The Bubble in Milford was a huge success. Mark noted that Gary Crompton did an exceptional job performing age appropriate skills and activities for over 60 of MUYSA’s players whom attended the clinic.

Chris Wojtowicz, MUYSA Referee Coordinator, stated that he plans to have a refresher course for all referees Monday evenings during March at Miscoe Hill. Chris stated that he would be continuing the coach’s referee feedback form program for the spring season.

Mark Fitzgerald reported that new player uniforms have been ordered to restock the inventory at the Soccer Spot.

Don Morin gave an update for Ed Mullarkey, Grover Field Coordinator. Currently he is awaiting bids for the installation of the electrical service for the irrigation system. Mark Fitzgerald reminded everyone that Kiwanis Beach field would be offline in the spring for repairs. He also stated that the West River Street project is planned to undergo construction in the spring of 2004.

Field Coordinators for the spring season are as follows:

Grover Field - Ed Mullarkey - U12, U14 & U16
Miscoe Hill - Mark Murray - U10
Hood Field - Ken Perregaux - U6, U7 & U8

Mark Murray, MUYSA Scholarship Committee Chairman, reported that scholarship applications for the graduating class are currently available at Miscoe Hill School. Applications will be reviewed in April.

There was a general discussion regarding U10 Travel soccer and the registration process that needs to be completed by July 4, 2004. It was decided that the U10 coordinator would develop communication between the U10 coaches and parents and decide to pursue this as opposed to a town run program. Ken Perregaux, Mark Murray and Mike Brodeur will be in charge of this process and report back to the club.

Brian Mazar reminded all present that Futsal Tournament registration forms need to be mailed in ASAP. This event is being sponsored by the varsity girl’s soccer program.

Mark Fitzgerald announced that Gary Crompton’s Soccer 101 summer camp has been scheduled for the week of August 2-6 at Miscoe Hill School. The next MUYSA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 7:15 PM at the Rose Garden, Upton, MA.
