Monthly Meeting
January 2, 2002
Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM.

Present: Mike Brodeur, Bob Burke, Mike Campagne, Art DiGregorio, Dave Dorenzo, Hank Eaton, Mark Fitzgerald, Joe Flaherty, Dan Flynn, Roger Hess, Jim Housekeeper, Jill Lawson, Brian Massey, Brian Mazar, Don Morin, Ed Mularkey, Mark Murphy, John Patrick, Ken Perregaux, Gene Peterman, Walt Ramsey, Dave Rizzo, Pat Royos, Rob Walters.

The Minutes from the December 4, 2001 Meeting were read and approved.

Don Morin, MAYS (Midland Area Youth Soccer) Coordinator, reminded everyone that January 13th, 2002 is the deadline for preliminary rosters and team alignments. February 19th, 2002 is the deadline for final team rosters and coaches pass cards. All U12 and older Division 1 & 2 players will be required to have pass cards. March 24th, 2002 schedules and booklets will be ready. April 6th, 2002 the spring season begins.

Ken Perregaux addressed the group with the thought of having a more definitive process for the age group drafts / team alignments. After a general discussion it was determined that a “By-Law Committee” be formed to address club policy issues. Volunteers for this By-Law Committee are Don Morin, Ken Perregaux, Mike Brodeur, Artie DiGregorio and John Patrick. They will report back to the club with their recommendations.

Rob Walters will take care of getting the proper registration forms to the age group coordinators. There was a general discussion about team alignments. Rob will process the pass cards and distribute to coordinators.

Don Morin will check with the uniform inventory at the Soccer Spot (formerly known as the Soccer Post) for the spring season.

Brian Mazar reminded field coordinators to check on the stock for the fields i.e. Corner posts, nets, etc. Anyone needing supplies should speak to Don Morin. Don will place an order for balls, paint and lining machines.

Joe Flaherty thanked Bob Burke for his assistance in welding some of the goals at Hood field.

Joe Flaherty and Jill Lawson reported that an “F license” coach’s clinic has been scheduled for Saturday, March 23rd, 2002 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Joe reminded everyone that MUYSA picks up the tab for hiring a MYSA (Mass. Youth Soccer Association) instructor and that we need to have at least fifteen (15) people to attend. Currently only six (6) people have expressed interest in attending the clinic. Brian Mazar suggested that if we do not attain the minimum of fifteen (15) attendees that we should cancel the clinic. Jill Lawson will make some telephone calls to eligible town coaches.

Brian Mazar reminded everyone that filed use requests need to be submitted in writing to the governing authorities. Mark Fitzgerald will draft a letter for Kiwanis Beach. Brian will write a letter for Miscoe Hill.

Brain Mazar reviewed the MUYSA Field Coordinators for the spring season of 2002:

Mark Fitzgerald made a motion to accept the Tru Green bid of $780.00 submitted by Joe Flaherty for the annual fertilization program for Colonial Field in Mendon. Don Morin seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Mark Fitzgerald submitted the preliminary plans for the West River Street soccer field project for review.

There was a general discussion about the scholarship process. Dave Dorenzo, Walt Ramsey and Dan Flynn will review the scholarship committee process and make a recommendation to the club at the next meeting.

Don Morin reported that Steve Niedzialkoski, MUYSA Referee Coordinator, has scheduled a referee class, “Grade 11” (for U8 & U10 Refereeing) for Saturday, March 16th, 2002 to be held at the Mendon Senior Center. This will be a four (4) hour course.


There was a general discussion about color selection of the new uniforms for the fall 2002 season. It was determined that the club retain the green shirt, green shorts and green socks combination.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5th, at 7:15 PM at the Rose Garden in Upton.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 PM.
