Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:25 PM.

The Minutes from the January 2, 2002 Meeting were read and approved.
Don Morin, MAYS (Midland Area Youth Soccer) Coordinator, reminded everyone that all pass cards and rosters need to be turned into him by February 10th, 2002. March 24th, 2002 schedules and booklets will be ready. April 6th, 2002 the spring season begins.
Steve Niedzialkoski, MUYSA Referee Coordinator, has scheduled a referee class, “Grade 11” (for U8 & U10 Refereeing) for Saturday, March 16th, 2002 to be held at the Mendon Senior Center between the hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Steve reported that twenty-seven (27) students had registered for the course. Each student is required to pay a $20.00 registration fee. Steve mentioned that a white board with markers would be needed as well as a projector. Please see Steve after the meeting if you can assist with these items. MUYSA will be purchasing referee uniforms for all students passing the course.
Jill Lawson reported that the “F license” coach’s clinic that has been scheduled for Saturday, March 23rd, 2002 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM has sixteen (16) registered coaches. Don Morin, MUYSA Treasurer, will send in the required deposit money for the MYSA instructor.
Brian Mazar, MUYSA President, announced that a coach’s soccer symposium has been scheduled by MYSA on Saturday & Sunday February 9th & 10th, 2002 at Wheaton College in Norton. The fee is $25.00 per day or $40.00 for both days. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Brian Mazar announced that MUYSA has reserved the lower gym at Miscoe Hill for the month of March, Monday - Friday evenings. Brian stressed the importance of not damaging any of the glass in the gym. Please contact Brian to schedule practice times.
Mark Fitzgerald will send Jill Lawson and Mike Brodeur, Gary Crompton’s email address for U6 coordination purposes.
Soccer 101 camp has been scheduled for August 5th - 9th, 2002. Steve Niedzialkoski mentioned that Jim Grant has scheduled his soccer camp for the same week. Mark Fitzgerald will speak with Gary Crompton about an alternate date for Soccer 101 camp.
Brian Mazar announced that the Clough and Memorial (Upton) school fields are unavailable for the next two years while the school renovation projects are underway.
Brain Mazar reviewed the MUYSA Field Coordinators for the spring season of 2002:

Don Morin stated that he would provide an insurance certificate to the owner of Kelley field when and if needed. Steve N. will provide Don with the pertinent information.
Hank Eaton, MUYSA Web Master, suggested that field coordinators provide him with practice schedules so that he may post them on the web page.
Don Morin mentioned that by default he was acting as Equipment Coordinator and if anyone was interested in the position please speak with him.
Brian Mazar mentioned that he has a meeting scheduled with the High School Athletic Director, Jim Grant, and the High School Varsity Coach, Gary Pichel, regarding the fielding of a Boys and Girls Middle School soccer teams. He will update the club after the meeting.
Mark Fitzgerald requested that the fall 2002 uniform selection be revisited. It was agreed to discuss further at the next meeting as long as solutions were presented not discussion.
The Scholarship Committee recommendation was tabled until the next meeting.
Don Morin passed out some informal financial information for the club members to review. There was a general discussion that followed regarding the reporting format for the future.
Mike Brodeur, MUYSA Educational Director, reported that a soccer clinic has been tentatively scheduled during school vacation week on February 21st, 2002 at the Habitat in Uxbridge, MA. There will be two (2) sessions 9-11 AM and 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A MYSA instructor will be running the clinic. The cost is $17.00 per student. Please see Mike if you have an interest in attending.
Steve N. made a suggestion that MUYSA purchase jackets / shirts for all the coaches contributing three (3) or more years in the program. There was a general discussion. Mark Fitzgerald will make a recommendation at the next meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th, at 7:15 PM at the Rose Garden in Upton.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:46 PM.
