Mendon-Upton Youth Soccer

The Minutes from the June 13, 2001 Meeting were reviewed and approved.
Brian Mazar reviewed the MUYSA Coordinators for the Fall 2001 season:
Rick Bennett will serve as the interim MAYS Coordinator until a replacement volunteer is found.
Brian Mazar nominated Don Morin as the MAYS Coordinator for a three (3) year term. Rob Walters seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Brian Mazar reviewed the MUYSA Field Coordinators for the Fall 2001:
All coaches and coordinators were reminded that registration deadline for the Fall 2001 season is August 1, 2001. Rob Walters stated that currently there were 395 children enrolled for the Fall season. Rob anticipates another 300 registrations are forthcoming.
There was a general discussion about the use of Clough (Mendon) and Memorial (Upton) field usage this fall. Both schools are scheduled for renovation and the fields may be used for staging areas. It appears that the renovation projects have been pushed off until the Spring of 2002 therefore the fields will be used for the Fall 2001 soccer season.
Mark Fitzgerald and Rob Walters reported that the free Soccer Clinic that was run by Soccer 101 on June 18th was a big success. There were over fifty (50) participants at the clinic with eight (8) staff members from Soccer 101.
Coaches and coordinators are reminded that Soccer 101 has been retained to run a soccer camp at Miscoe Hill School the week of August 6-10. Currently there are over eighty (80) players signed up from Mendon-Upton.
Joe Flaherty has scheduled a coaches clinic for August 25th to be held at Miscoe Hill from 8:00 AM 5:00 PM. All interested parties should contact Joe for information on the eight (8) hour "F" license course. Participants are reminded that MUYSA picks up the cost for our coaches to attend this program.
Steve Niedzialkoski reported on the status of the town referees and their fee payment structure. After a general discussion Ken Perregaux made a motion to pay the referees according to the following schedule:
Don Morin seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Rob Walters interviewed a couple of people for the position of coaching coordinator for the U6 program. Rob Walters made a motion to hire Gary Crompton of Soccer 101 for this new position. Mark Fitzgerald seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Mark Fitzgerald volunteered to help coordinate the details between the MUYSA U6 coordinator, Jill Lawson, and Gary Crompton.
Don Morin announced that the Soccer Post has over 300 Jerseys for the MUYSA program in stock. Don will also coordinate the purchase of corner flags, nets, goals, balls etc. with the Field Coordinators and the Soccer Post.
There was a general discussion about MUYSA bylaws and information being organized and put together in a binder form for future use. Don Morin will start to compile club information and make a recommendation for format.
Brian Mazar is working on scheduling a coaches clinic with Bill Lever, the Nipmuc boys Varsity Soccer Coach, teaching big field tactics. He will report back next meeting for the time and date to be scheduled. All coaches are encouraged to attend.
Beginning in September 2001, Monthly Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:15 at the Rose Garden (upstairs) in Upton.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 4th, at 7:15 PM at the Rose Garden.
