Mark Fitzgerald made a motion to reconvene the meeting after dinner. Don Morin seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Mark Fitzgerald reviewed the MUYSA Field Coordinators for the spring season of 2002:
Joe Flaherty reminded everyone that both the U6 B & G and the U8 B & G programs historically play at hood field during the spring season. Joe mentioned that the feasibility of having these age groups play at Hood would depend upon registration numbers. It was agreed to revisit playing field options after registration is completed.
Jill Lawson, U6 B & G Coordinator, reported that all U6 participants received a MUYSA patch at the end of the season and the players loved them. Jill stated that she had lots of feedback from the coaches and parents and will review it with Mike Brodeur and any other coordinators / coaches who might be interested for potential modifications or improvements to the spring program.
Don Morin reported that Steve Niedzialkoski, MUYSA Referee Coordinator, has scheduled a referee class, “Grade 11” (for U8 & U10 Refereeing) for Saturday, March 16th, 2002 to be held at the Mendon Senior Center. This will be a four (4) hour course. Steve will be contacting interested students in January with class information and for confirmation of attendance.
Gene Peterman reminded those present that a recertification class for referees would be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2001 at 9:00 AM at the Radisson Hotel in Milford.
Joe Flaherty reported that an “F license” coach’s clinic has been scheduled for Saturday, March 23rd, 2002 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Joe reminded everyone that MUYSA picks up the tab for hiring a MYSA (Mass. Youth Soccer Association) instructor and that we need to have at least fifteen (15) people to attend. Jill Lawson will encourage all U6 coaches and assistants to attend. Joe mentioned that he had several extra coaching books, provided by MYSA, available if anyone wanted one.
Mark Fitzgerald made a motion to schedule next summers soccer camp with Gary Crompton’s Soccer 101 program (same as last year) for the week of August 5th - 9th, 2002. Ken Perregaux seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Joe Flaherty reported that he was working on obtaining irrigation quotes for colonial field with the Mendon Parks and Recreation Commission. Mark Fitzgerald reported that the Upton Parks and Recreation Commission has completed the repairs for better drainage to the Kiwanis beach field. Mark stated that the preliminary engineering for West River Street field is scheduled to be completed by December 13th, 2001.
Ken Perregaux presented color options for the new uniform style selected “Admiral Barnsly” for the fall 2002 season for the U12, U14 and U16 age groups. There being very little discussion on the matter, Mark Fitzgerald motioned to table the color selection until the next MUYSA meeting. Don Morin seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Ken thought it would be a good idea to post a note on our website that new uniforms will be required for the fall so that no one would purchase the old style uniforms for the spring season unless necessary.
Mike Brodeur, Educational Coordinator for MUYSA, reported that he attended the first statewide education coordinators meeting sponsored by MYSA at Wheaton College on December 1st, 2001. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the new regional coaches and to discuss player and coach development with an emphasis on three-year planning proposals being offered by MYSA to local member soccer associations.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th, at 7:15 PM at the Rose Garden in Upton. (Subsequently changed to Wednesday, January 2nd, at 7:15 PM at the Senior Center in Mendon).
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 PM.
